Job description

Position Title: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (SPED), Part-Time
Reports To: Director of Early Childhood Education
Schedule: Part-Time (20 hours per week flex-time, based on program needs)
Position Overview
Christ Community Lutheran School (CCLS), a ministry of the Lutheran Churchโ€”Missouri Synod, is seeking a collaborative and knowledgeable Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to serve students from birth through age 5.
This role is designed to strengthen how we support young learners across our Early Childhood program. Through classroom observation, teacher coaching, and partnership with families, this position plays a key role in ensuring that each child is known, supported, and guided toward success.

About Our Early Childhood Program
Our Early Childhood program serves children from infancy through Pre-K in a warm, relationship-centered environment where play, exploration, and intentional instruction work together to support the whole child. Classrooms are designed to be engaging and developmentally appropriate, with a strong emphasis on social-emotional growth, early language and literacy, foundational development, and executive function skills. Teachers work collaboratively and are supported by leadership that values responsiveness, trust, and continuous professional growth.
Role Distinctives amp; Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of early childhood students with diverse learning and developmental needs on two of our four early childhood campuses
  • Collaborate closely with a fellow special education teacher to plan, problem-solve, and support students in the CCLS early childhood program
  • Provide direct and indirect support within classrooms to help students access learning
  • Partner with classroom teachers to implement strategies, accommodations, and interventions
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with families through regular communication and collaboration
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individualized plans (IEPs/ISPs as applicable)
  • Observe students, collect data, and adjust supports to best meet student needs
  • Serve as a resource and encourager to teachers as they support all learners
Qualifications
  • BA Degree in Education, certified in Special Education (not an emphasis)
  • Passion for working with young children (birthโ€“age 5), including diverse learning and developmental needs
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and behavior
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and communicate thoughtfully with families
Required:
  • Degree in Education, Special Education (SPED) or related special education field
  • Certification in Special Education
  • Active member of a Christian church
  • Alignment with our CCLS Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct
Preferred:
  • Experience working with young learners (birth through 5 years old)
  • Active member of a Lutheran (LCMS) church congregation
