CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR

Accountable to: Rector Part-time

20 - 25 hours/week

We are seeking a responsible, proactive church administrator to manage the business affairs of the church in a smooth and efficient manner. The primary functions of the position include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the church office, maintaining church administrative and financial records, coordinating church events, and providing administrative support to the church staff. To be successful in this role, you should be detail oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage daily office operations and maintaining office supplies and records

  • Pay bills, oversee payrolls, and track and record church income from donations and sales

  • Keep accurate financial records

  • Administer the records of the church and official documents

  • Handle church communications and publications, creating and distributing bulletins and newsletters

  • Update the church’s website and social media accounts

  • Provide general administrative support to the pastoral staff as requested

  • Serve as the church receptionist by answering incoming phone calls, greeting office visitors, and redirecting inquires as appropriate

  • Oversee church facility maintenance and security operations

  • Coordinate the schedule of church events

  • Assist with scheduling meetings, renting church equipment and facilities, and enforcing church policies for facility use

  • Building and maintaining relationships with the congregation and community

  • Work with pastors and other church leaders to develop, implement, and maintain organizational policies and programs

  • Complete other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous office or administrative experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills

  • Knowledge of general fiscal management principles (e.g. accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, etc.)

  • Knowledge and proficiency with computers and commonly used office software

  • Knowledge and proficiency with general office equipment

  • Ability to work independently or with a team

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to meet deadlines and problem solve

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discernment

  • Commitment to being an upstanding representative of the church community

Organizational skills: Church administrators must be able to keep track of multiple projects and deadlines, manage volunteers, and coordinate with other organizations in the community.

Communication skills: Church administrators must be able to communicate effectively with both internal and external audiences, both verbally and in writing.
