Job Summary:
EDG TECH is looking for Automation Professionals to support exciting projects in the Specialty/Fine Chemical, Biotech, Pharma, Food and Beverage, Beauty Care, and related industries. The Sr. Automation Professional Batch position will coordinate with the client process engineers to lead the process controls definition effort during Front End Engineering Design and then supervise the execution of the work during Detail Design. The candidate should be proficient in Batch Applications. The preferred candidate will be knowledgeable on DCS technology - Emerson, Honeywell, Rockwell, or similar.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Project Leadership
o Lead automation scope for assigned workstreams on large capital projects, ensuring alignment with applicable industry standards, and client quality requirements.
o Serve as lead for batch automation, MES integration, and electronic workflows, guiding project teams during FEED, detail design, FAT, SAT, and qualification phases.
o Develop project-specific automation execution plans, risk assessments, and design documents consistent with client requirements.
โ€ข Core Responsibilities
o Architect, configure, and verify batch control strategies using ISA - 88 standards, including unit procedures, operations, phases, and recipe management.
o Define and document process control functional and user requirements.
o Define and document software requirements and standards.
o Define and document requirements for MES functionality (e.g., EBR, workflows, genealogy, review-by-exception, equipment tracking).
o Support development of deliverables such as Functional Specs, Design Specs, Requirements Traceability Matrices, and test protocols.
โ€ข Automation Design, Testing & Execution
o Interpret, analyze, and redline P&IDs, process descriptions, user requirement specifications, control narratives, and functional specifications related to unit operations.
o Build and review complex logic for state - based control, regulatory control, and advanced control strategies.
o Lead or support FAT/SAT execution, ensuring test evidence, deviations, and resolutions are documented in a compliant manner.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Bio-engineering preferred, but will consider other backgrounds pending the need such as Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar discipline;
โ€ข Seven (7) or more years of technical experience designing and implementing control systems in facilities.
โ€ข Ten (10) or more years of total experience in the automation industry .
โ€ข Technical hands-on knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, application of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computer software.
โ€ข Desire to learn plant production processes, systems, and new technologies;
โ€ข Knowledge of project execution in automation projects;
โ€ข Knowledge of industry / regulatory codes and standards;
โ€ข Skill in oral and written communication;
โ€ข Strong organizational skills related to engineering activities.
Working Conditions:
โ€ข Work is primarily conducted in an office environment but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations.
โ€ข Field duties require outdoor work in a construction site or in plant type atmosphere.
โ€ข Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;
โ€ข Working on a construction site or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels
โ€ข Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;
โ€ข May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;
โ€ข May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
Physical Requirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):
โ€ข Must be able to lift and carry five (20) pounds;
โ€ข Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;
โ€ข Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
