Job description

Department: Information Systems

Shift/schedule: Full Time (Salaried)

GENERAL SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Applications Manager. The IS Applications Support Specialist's primary job function is to assist the departments in the selection and installation of department-specific software. Support Specialist continues to help the department's designated “Applications System Manager” with issues related to the computer system post conversion/installation. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required

• Associates Degree in IT related studies or four years of healthcare IT specific application support experience required

• Bachelor's Degree with IT - specific curriculum or Associates Degree with Software Development Certification preferred

Licensure:

• None

Experience:

• Three years of either, healthcare-specific application support experience, healthcare-specific project management experience or HL7 interface development experience preferred.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Support IS Operations Group by training operations staff on procedures and software, etc.

2. Assists Department Director in the Evaluation and Selection of Application Software.

3. Works with computer software vendors and clients to solve installation and on-going support issues.

4. Develops and support system interface programs, other application software and procedures.

5. Installs applications software on client PC's.

6. Maintains codes files and master files for various applications as directed.

7. Follows all documented policies/procedures for updating the departments asset system.
