What You'll Do
As a Parole and Probation Officer, you'll:
- Supervise individuals on parole and probation
- Develop case plans that promote accountability and success
- Conduct investigations and prepare reports
- Collaborate with courts, law enforcement, treatment providers, and community partners
- Support rehabilitation while protecting public safety
- Build working relationships that promote long-term behavioral change
No two days are the same. You'll spend time both in the office and in the community, balancing public safety with opportunities to help people create positive change.
Who We're Looking For

Experience in corrections, law enforcement, social work, behavioral health, education, military service, or related human service fields is highly valued.
Minimum Qualifications
Parole & Probation Officer II
- Bachelor's degree (preferred) in behavioral science, education, business, or related field with three years of work experience in a corrections, law enforcement, social work, education, or behavioral health setting, or
- Associate's degree with five years of experience
- Must be licensable as a North Dakota Peace Officer
- Must pass the Critical Task Assessment (CTA)
- Must complete ND POST-recognized basic peace officer training
- Valid Class D driver's license
- Successful background investigation and criminal record check
Parole & Probation Officer I:
- Bachelor's degree (preferred) in behavioral science, education, business, or related field or
- Associate's degree with five years of experience
- Eligibility for ND Peace Officer licensure
- Valid Class D driver's license
- Successful background investigation and criminal record check
Before Employment
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing:
- Background investigation
- Drug screening
- Physical examination
- Psychological examination
- Critical Task Assessment (CTA)
Applicants must be eligible for North Dakota Peace Officer licensure.
