Job description

Legal Assistant/Paralegal
Location: Lake Oswego
Company Overview & culture:
Our Client’s law firm is a respected provider of legal services, offering counsel and representation across a diverse range of practice areas. With a team of experienced attorneys and a commitment to client success, they strive to deliver exceptional results for the individuals and businesses they serve.
The practice is a very busy estate planning, trust administration, probate, and estate tax/gift tax return practice. People frequently die, get dementia – this makes the schedule/workflow sometimes unpredictable. Elderly clients can be deaf and hard to talk with on the phone. Person answering the phone needs to know that people call to say loved ones have died, or their spouse is dying, etc. A person needs some poise and grit to deal with those sad calls.
The Solo Practitioner prefers a friendly, helpful yet professional telephone/client demeanor for the paralegal/legal assistant. No chatty kathies, no cool unapproachable cucumbers. And no drama llama – leave that at home.
The Solo Practitioner is an exacting person – She runs a very profitable solo practice. If the candidate is a contributor, she is generous.

What you will focus on:
As a Legal Assistant/Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys with a variety of legal tasks and responsibilities. You will be an integral member of our team, contributing to the firm's success through your exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle complex legal matters with professionalism and efficiency.
Hard skills you need to be successful:
- Conduct legal research and analysis to assist attorneys in preparing for cases, transactions, and client meetings
- Draft and format legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and correspondence
- Manage and maintain electronic and physical filing systems to ensure the organization and accessibility of important documents
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties to gather information and provide updates on case progress
- Coordinate schedules, arrange meetings, and provide general administrative support to the legal team
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal
- Demonstrated proficiency in legal research, document preparation, and case management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and legal software applications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
Benefits:
  • This is a Direct Hire W-2 position with hybrid options.
  • This position is (3) 8-hour days for 3 weeks of the month and one week with (4) 8-hour days. This is 104 hours per month, equivalent to 26 hours a week.
  • An example of a hybrid option would be in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 3 weeks out of the month and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday one week per month.
  • An alternative hybrid schedule option would look like one day per week at home, or half day at home and half day in the office.
  • Working in office is also fine if the candidate does not want the hybrid schedule.
  • This employer provides SEP-IRA benefits and after 3 years employer contributions begin.
