What is a paralegal assistant?

A paralegal handles a broad range of different tasks for a lawyer or law office. Their responsibilities may include everything from investigative research for trial preparation to clerical work and document drafting. The individual duties of a paralegal will vary depending on the size and needs of their employer. Sometimes paralegals work as independent contractors, but most of the time they’re employed by a law office. Many paralegals focus their skills on particular phrases of a case, especially at larger firms.
