Position Overview

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Supportive and Palliative Care Program, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for patients undergoing cancer treatment. This role focuses on advanced symptom and pain management, comprehensive care planning, behavioral interventions, and a holistic palliative approach to cancer care in both inpatient and outpatient environments.

This position offers a unique opportunity to further develop our clinical program, which currently includes one physician (Program Director) and one advanced practice provider. Initially, the emphasis will be on bolstering our outpatient services, with the potential for increased autonomy and responsibilities as the program progresses.

The selected candidate will also be considered for an adjunct academic position at a prestigious university, based on their experience and academic achievements.

Program Mission

Our supportive and palliative care initiative aligns with our organization's mission to provide evidence-based, multidisciplinary care to patients with solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Leadership and Program Development:
    • Offer expert consultation on symptom and pain management, as well as behavioral and palliative care interventions.
    • Collaborate with a leading cancer center to implement evidence-based protocols and guidelines.
    • Lead initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and satisfaction.
    • Encourage collaboration with various specialties to ensure integrated, multidisciplinary care.
    • Promote a professional culture centered on growth, teamwork, and excellence.
    • Engage in regular team meetings to discuss cases, share insights, and advance the program.
  • Patient and Family Engagement:
    • Assist patients and families in navigating advanced care planning and complex decision-making.

  • Academic and Research Contributions:
    • Collaborate with the clinical research program to facilitate access to clinical trials and conduct high-quality, protocol-driven research.
Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree with board certification in Palliative Care or a related specialty.
  • Completion of a palliative care fellowship and eligibility for certification.
  • Experience in supportive or palliative care is advantageous.
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, an active, unrestricted medical license in Florida.
  • Proficiency in symptom and pain management, advanced care planning, and palliative care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
