Paid Ads Manager information

How much do Paid Ads Managers make?

Paid Ads Managers typically earn between $50,000 and $85,000 annually, with experienced professionals or those managing large campaigns earning over $100,000. Salaries vary based on experience, location, industry, and the complexity of campaigns managed, often supplemented by bonuses or commissions for performance.

What does a paid ads manager do?

A Paid Ads Manager is responsible for creating, managing, and optimizing online advertising campaigns across platforms like Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and other digital channels. Their main goal is to maximize return on investment (ROI) by targeting the right audience, allocating budgets effectively, and analyzing campaign performance. They handle tasks such as ad copywriting, keyword research, bid management, and reporting. Paid Ads Managers work closely with marketing teams to align campaigns with overall business objectives and ensure consistent brand messaging.

What are some common challenges a paid ads manager faces when optimizing campaigns across multiple platforms?

A Paid Ads Manager often encounters the challenge of managing different targeting options, budgets, and performance metrics across platforms like Google Ads, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Each platform has unique algorithms and reporting formats, requiring ongoing learning and adaptability. Balancing client or stakeholder expectations with realistic outcomes, staying updated on frequent platform changes, and ensuring consistent messaging across channels are also key challenges. Effective communication and strong analytical skills are essential to navigate these complexities and drive campaign success.

While both roles require marketing knowledge, the Paid Ads Manager focuses specifically on paid media strategies and campaign performance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a paid ads manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Paid Ads Manager, you need expertise in digital marketing strategy, campaign optimization, and data analysis, often supported by a degree in marketing or related fields. Familiarity with platforms such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, and analytics tools like Google Analytics, as well as certifications like Google Ads certification, is typically required. Strong communication, creativity, and analytical thinking are essential soft skills for developing compelling ad content and interpreting campaign results. These abilities are crucial for maximizing ad performance, achieving client goals, and driving measurable business growth.

Job description

Senior Paid Media Manager
  • Remote. Work from wherever you do your best work.
  • Own a $70,000+ weekly Meta advertising budget with real autonomy.
  • Join a high-performing marketing team with proven funnels, strong offers and plenty of room to scale.

The role
This is not a button-pushing media buying role.
You'll own our paid acquisition across multiple funnels, offers and markets, primarily on Meta. From campaign structure and audience strategy to testing, tracking and reporting, you'll be responsible for making smart commercial decisions that improve performance.
You'll report to our Head of Paid Ads, but you'll be expected to think for yourself. Bring ideas. Spot opportunities. Challenge assumptions. Know exactly why the numbers moved this week.
We've got the funnels, the offers and the data. We need someone who can help us scale them.
Who we are
Profitable Tradie helps plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers, HVAC contractors and other trade business owners build businesses that make real money and don't rely on them to survive.
We coach thousands of clients across Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada through a marketing engine we're genuinely proud of: paid ads, books, webinars, lead magnets, organic content, automated follow-up and a world-class sales team.
We're a high-ticket coaching business. That means paid media isn't about vanity metrics.
It's about booked calls, revenue, profitability and clients getting real results.
Every campaign has a number attached to it. Every test has a purpose. Every decision should move the business forward.
Who you are
You love winning and most importantly, you obsess over the details because you know small improvements create big results.
You're analytical and commercially minded. You love digging into the data, spotting patterns and working out why performance changed. Not just that it changed.
But you're not just a numbers person.......You understand that great media buying is also creative. Better hooks. Better offers. Better messaging. Better ideas.
You're proactive, accountable and always looking for the next opportunity to improve performance.
If that sounds like you, then keep on reading!
What you'll be doing
Creative
  • Write creative briefs for editors and designers
  • Monitor creative fatigue and refresh winning ads before performance drops
  • Work with the creative team to develop new concepts and winning angles

Campaign Management
  • Build and optimise campaign structures across multiple funnels
  • Manage campaign objectives, budgets and bid strategies
  • Maintain clean account structures and naming conventions

Audiences
  • Build custom, lookalike and retargeting audiences
  • Create exclusion audiences
  • Optimise audience performance as campaigns scale

Tracking & Attribution
  • Manage UTM tracking
  • Verify pixel events and conversion tracking
  • Configure Meta Events Manager and native lead forms

Testing & Optimisation
  • Run structured creative, hook and offer testing
  • Know when to let tests mature and when to make changes
  • Identify winning patterns and apply them across campaigns
  • Scale winners and improve or stop underperformers

Reporting
  • Build dashboards and report on campaign performance
  • Turn data into clear commercial insights and recommendations
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities before they become problems

Platform Management
  • Monitor ad account health
  • Resolve ad disapprovals
  • Manage billing and payments
  • Work closely with HubSpot and our marketing automation to ensure the entire funnel performs

What we're looking for
  • Proven experience managing $50,000+ weekly advertising budgets
  • Strong Meta Ads experience in a lead generation or direct-response environment
  • Deep understanding of campaign structure, audience strategy, testing and optimisation
  • Confident using data to make commercial decisions
  • Experience with attribution and tracking (Hyros experience is a bonus)
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience scaling campaigns while maintaining profitability
  • Bonus points if you've marketed to small business owners, tradies or similar audiences

Tools we use
Meta Ads Manager • Hyros • HubSpot • Landing pages • Marketing automation
You don't need experience with every tool, but you should learn quickly.
Where you'll work
Remote.
We're hiring across Australia, New Zealand and the USA and already work across multiple time zones.
Success in this role
Success isn't measured by how many campaigns you launch. It's measured by the commercial impact those campaigns have on the business.
How to apply
We really like people who pay attention to the details.
We don't like generic "To Whom It May Concern" cover letters.
To show you've read the advert properly, start your application with the word 'Pixel.'
Whilst you are at it, we'd love to know:
  • The approximate weekly advertising budget you've managed
  • Which advertising platforms you've worked across
  • Why Profitable Tradie is a business you'd genuinely like to be part of

Even better, send us a short Loom or video introduction covering the above. Be creative as want! We'd love to see your personality.
We read every application, and the best ones don't just tell us what they've done. They show us why they're excited to do it here.
