Job description

Position Summary:

The PACS Administrator supports the daily operations of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), ensuring the efficient operation of our imaging systems and providing healthcare professionals with reliable access to medical images and data. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line support and training to PACS users—including radiologists, technologists, and other staff—while minimizing workflow disruptions.
  • Monitor PACS performance and promptly escalate technical issues to senior IS/IT staff as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely distribution of imaging studies to appropriate healthcare providers.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Assist with quality control and data integrity tasks.
  • Support onboarding for new users and ongoing account management for existing users.
  • Perform routine system checks, upgrades, and basic maintenance.
  • Participate in after-hours support on a rotational basis or as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in IT, Healthcare Informatics, Radiography, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting, attention to detail, communication, and user support skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude and proven adaptability to learning new technologies.
  • Experience in an imaging center, IT support role, or healthcare IT/imaging systems.
  • Experience with PACS/RIS, HIPAA compliance, and medical imaging standards such as DICOM and HL7.
  • Experience with IntelePACS is highly preferred.
