SCOPE – PACKAGING MACHINE OPERATOR
Responsible for the production of the company's products within prescribed specifications and efficient machine operation by performing the following duties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – PACKAGING MACHINE OPERATOR
  • Handle startup and shut down duties pertaining to packaging equipment at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Make certain that each packaging machine is in good repair and works in accordance with regulations set by the company.
  • Monitor correct product weights and ensure that they are maintained throughout the shift.
  • Handle / discard waste that packaging machineries edict in a safe manner
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area by ensuring that floors are clean and organized appropriately.
  • Tend to packaging machines by using appropriate controls to package different items.
  • Load and unload film into packaging machines.
  • Reset machines following malfunctions or need for repeated cycles.
  • Secure packaged items by gluing, tying, stapling, or attaching fasteners.
  • Sort, label, grade and inspect packaged products.
  • Make up and fold cartons, close cartons, and stack them on a pallet for transfer.
  • Operating semi-automated packaging equipment which includes reading a computer screen, resetting equipment after jams, and performing simple troubleshooting tasks to keep the machine running.
  • Operate machine to ensure that the product is placed in the correct size bags and the weights are within the specified guidelines.
  • Computer skills and scanning skills

  • Safety/GMP/Food Safety/Quality policies followed.
  • BRC Compliance
  • Reporting accuracy met

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS – PACKAGING MACHINE OPERATOR
  • Ability to build strong relationships, provide excellent customer service, and problem solve.
  • Must be capable of cleaning with chemicals using protective gear.
  • Capable of learning the function and design of different machines.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, leads and Supervisors.
  • Ability to work independently and follow written instructions.
  • Must be capable of reading and writing in English.
  • May be exposed to potential allergens.
  • Must be able to work safely in potentially slippery conditions.
  • Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be capable of climbing ladders and/or stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • This position is an onsite position.
