Job description

Overview

While helping patients with management of their cardiac pacemakers and ICD devices, you use your skill and compassion to make our patients' lives better. This position may be assigned some remote work.

Responsibilities

With physician oversight, the Cardiac Device Technician performs independently in the technical management of implanted cardiac pacemaker and ICD devices.  Manages device patients and their care implementing treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and other device team members.  Able to perform basic interrogation, adjustments to programming as per protocol or specific order, and able to troubleshoot basic, intermediate and advanced device issues.  Performs device clinic triage including patient instruction and education regarding device and remote monitoring.

Qualifications

Education:

High School or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Pacemaker and ICD Technology: Minimum of 6 months training in pacemaker technology, to include training in device classes with all companies from beginning to intermediate to advanced.  Additional training in the device clinic with supervisor and device company representatives over 6 - 12months.  Continuing education keeping up to date on device technology and advancements.

Experience:

Minimum of five years in Cardiology in a clinic or hospital setting, or as a device industry representative.  Extensive knowledge of implantable cardiac pacemaker and ICD devices required.

 

Skills:

Ability to communicate appropriately using good interpersonal skills.

Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities. Develops strong and credible relationships with medical and non-medical staff and peers.

Ability to exercise initiative, problem solving, decision making and multi-tasking.

Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new skills.

Takes responsibility for own actions and for seeking and acquiring sufficient information necessary to function effectively.

Demonstrates a clear understanding of regulations applicable to certification and licensing.

Demonstrates the ability to prioritize workload and uses slow periods productively.

 

Licensure

Current Basic Life Support for healthcare provider's certification.

CCDS certification preferred.
