Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking experienced Construction Oversight Inspectors to join the SR 400 Express Lanes Owner Verification (OV) team in Alpharetta, GA. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a landmark infrastructure initiative-adding two express lanes in each direction along a 16-mile corridor from I-285 in Sandy Springs to north of the Fulton/Forsyth County line. This $4.6 Billion project also includes the construction or replacement of over twenty-five bridges and four Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations and is managed under GDOT's first Public-Private Partnership (P3) Concession Transportation Project.

As part of a collocated team under GDOT's management, the  Construction Oversight Inspector (also  known as the Owner's Representative) will play a critical role in construction inspection oversight, materials and testing inspection, and compliance verification. This position reports directly to the Construction OV Manager and offers the opportunity to work on one of the most complex and high-profile transportation projects in the country.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Construction Oversight Inspectors in performing construction oversight and inspection duties.
  • Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct field audits of developer and Independent Construction Quality Assurance (ICQA) processes.
  • Inspect roadways, structures, and drainage systems for conformance to project requirements.
  • Perform construction oversight inspection, and verification sampling and testing in accordance with the Project's Construction Quality Assurance Program (CQAP)
  • Attend pre-activity meetings with the Developer's Contractors and Independent Quality Assurance Firm (IQF)
  • Document inspection findings and prepare electronic reports.
  • Uphold and promote safety practices in all construction activities.
Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • HS + 4 years of (roadway construction) related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience with highway construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting construction documents and specifications.
  • Experience in using computers and office equipment for documentation and reporting.
  • Valid US Driver's License is required to drive AECOM vehicles to project sites. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or technical training in civil engineering, construction management, or related field and 10 years of (roadway construction) related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Prior experience on large-scale transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with GDOT standards and procedures.
  • Obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames as required.
    • GDOT's Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests - Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, Basic Highway Plan Reading).
    • GDOT WECS.
    • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
    • GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
    • Certifications from other agencies or states may possibly be substituted.
  • Proficiency in geometry and trigonometry as applied to construction surveying and layout.
  • Proficient communication skills - written and verbal.

 

Additional Information
  • Position will include some night, holiday, and weekend work, and qualified candidates must be willing to work as needed on these occasions.
  • Work in various field conditions including heights, live traffic, water proximity, and adverse weather.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
