Job description

We are seeking a qualified Gastroenterologist to serve as the Supervising Physician for an Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF). This role provides clinical oversight and medical direction for gastrointestinal diagnostic testing services, ensuring compliance with CMS, Medicare, and state regulatory requirements. No direct patient care is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Supervising Physician of record for the IDTF
  • Provide medical oversight of GI diagnostic testing (e.g., motility studies, breath testing, ultrasound, related diagnostics)
  • Review and approve testing protocols and policies
  • Be available for clinical consultation regarding abnormal or complex results
  • Review and sign off on test interpretations and reports as required
  • Ensure compliance with CMS IDTF regulations and medical necessity standards
  • Participate in quality assurance and compliance activities
  • Maintain required licensure and credentialing

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO with completed Gastroenterology fellowship
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in [State]
  • Medicare-enrolled (or eligible to enroll)
  • Experience with diagnostic testing preferred
  • Knowledge of IDTF regulatory requirements a plus
  • Strong documentation and oversight skills
