The primary duties and responsibilities of the Outside Parts Salesperson are to fulfill customer parts needs in the most efficient and accurate manner by:

  • Responding to customer parts or information requests quickly
  • Develop business relationships with all customers
  • Develop game plan for prospecting a designated territory
  • Communicating internally with parts department and externally with customers
  • Monitoring the status of customer orders, advising in case of problems and notifying upon arrival
  • Assisting other Parts Department employees with above tasks as necessary
  • Organization and maintenance of the customer accounts, including pricing and application materials

Qualifications

  • The Outside Parts Salesperson position is a vital member of the Parts Department Team, one who has a direct impact on parts sales and customer satisfaction. Accordingly, specific personal qualities and abilities are required for successful performance in this position, including:
    • Appreciation for teamwork & sincere desire to contribute as a team member
    • Excellent communication skills, including an awareness of others & effective listening ability
    • Customer appreciation, a desire to satisfy customers & the ability to instill customer confidence
    • A commitment to customer satisfaction by addressing potential issues proactively
    • Multi-tasking ability, especially in dealing with interruptions and quick acknowledgements.
  • Preferred but not Required
    • College degree
    • Truck Parts Sales &/or Parts Counter experience
    • Mechanical aptitude or experience in automotive &/or truck mechanics
    • Parts department experience, particularly in a truck dealership or truck aftermarket environment
    • An ability to recognize opportunities for process & operational improvement
