Wood is currently recruiting for an Instrument and Electrical Design Coordinator with experience in the chemical manufacturing industry.  The Instrument and Electrical Design Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing design work supporting major facility-based capital projects for chemical manufacturing facilities.

  • 20+ years industrial experience working in the design field, preferably in that of the chemical manufacturing industry
  • Must be highly experienced with Instrument & Electrical design
  • Experience in design of instrumentation and electrical systems as currently used in chemical manufacturing facilities including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, plan drawings, conduit and cable tray layouts, pressure, temperature, flow, density, and other instrumentation, instrument loops, PLC and DCS, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of I/O detail wiring and termination
  • Experience specifying instruments and creating instrument data sheets
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical equipment selection in industrial classified areas
  • Outdoor design experience, able to wear required PPE and drive safely to job-site for field measurement, verification and as-built of drawings
  • Experience with Bentley MicroStation
  • Experience utilizing Bentley Descartes and ProjectWise a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proficiency in SAP a plus
  • Good communication skills a must
  • Meet or exceed the company and customer safety standards
  • Monitor projects during construction phase to ensure compliance with quality of installation, plant standards and applicable NEC codes
  • Responsible for coordinating the design efforts of groups of designers at engineering contractor offices and in the field
  • Read and fully understand preliminary design packages and other documents which describe the scope of work to be done
  • Provide electrical and instrumentation design coordination between the project manager and engineering contractors in a fast-paced environment 
  • Fully understand the design of MV and LV electrical systems, including both power, control and instrumentation wiring
  • Fully understand the design of instrumentation and control systems, including instrument wiring and power for instrument and control systems
  • Application of company and industry standards to oversee the generation of instrument and electrical construction packages
  • Coordinate the development of detailed instrument loop/wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, instrument/lighting/grounding/area classification plan drawings, cable tray/conduit/wire sizing, cable selection, PLC panel sizing
  • Work closely with project engineers, plant personnel, contractors, and team members to achieve project success
  • Coordinate walk down with engineers and other team members to provide material takeoffs and labor estimates
  • Daily coordination with field teams to monitor project development and produce up-to-date status reports of construction progress
  • Communicate project successes and challenges with clients, engineers, designers, field teams, and other personnel
  • Review material quotes and material orders for projects and ensure all project materials have been delivered and received at onsite facility warehouse
  • Provide Master copy of field red line markup drawings for any updating required
