Job description

Scope of Position

The Outbound Shipping Coordinator is responsible for assisting the supervisors and managers with training and managing the workflow on the outbound shipping dock. The Distribution Center is a fast-paced, high-volume 600,000 square foot state of the art Automotive Distribution center in Shawnee, KS.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Schedule and tracking of outbound shipping activities.
  • Researching issues that come down the exception lane.
  • Coordinate GM orders with our system and the GM related online systems.
  • Utilizing ASN programs for Special Market and GM accounts.
  • Responsible for the tracking of Emergency Orders through the WMS system.
  • Monitoring the order wave through the system to ensure orders ship on-time.
  • File appropriate freight claims with carriers if needed.
  • Schedule pickup and delivery of carriers such as parcel, LTL and Truckload.
  • Process bill of ladings, ASNโ€™s and utilize traffic management system to confirm shipments as well as schedule.
  • Auditing orders on the shipping dock for accuracy.
  • Utilize customer-based carrier systems to effectively schedule and track shipments through their systems.
  • Assists in duties as required managing the warehouse management system.
  • Must be cognizant of all safety rules and regulations and report any unsafe situations.
  • Special project work when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience AND/OR Education

  • Position requires a high school diploma or its equivalent (College Degree Preferred).
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of transportation related experience and familiar with computer related programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience with the JD Edwards operating system with prior experience in a WMS environment preferred.
  • Good communication skills and follow instructions/directions with minor supervision.
  • General understanding of the transportation and able to schedule loads in the Traffic Management System.

Ergonomic Focus and Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Other physical demands: standing and walking; occasional bending/stooping; exposure to hot, cold, and dust.
  • May require work during seasonal demands on alternate shift including evenings and weekends.
