Shipping/Receiving Coordinator

Department: Shipping & Receiving
Reports To: Shipping/Receiving Manager
Location: FPL Food LLC

Position Summary

The Shipping/Receiving Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure the efficient flow of raw materials and finished beef products. This position works closely with Production Scheduling, Logistics, Quality Assurance, and Warehouse teams to maintain inventory accuracy, prioritize receiving activities, communicate with customers and carriers, and support daily shipping and receiving operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Shipping & Receiving Coordination

  • Set up and coordinate inbound and outbound loads to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Schedule and confirm inbound and outbound shipments with carriers, customers, and logistics teams.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and receiving records.
  • Monitor shipment schedules and proactively address delays or transportation issues.

Production & Inventory Support

  • Partner with the Production Scheduling team to prioritize receiving activities based on production needs and lead-time requirements.
  • Coordinate receiving priorities to ensure raw materials and supplies are available to support production schedules.
  • Complete daily inventory audits and cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy in Receiving and Shipping areas.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the companyโ€™s ERP or inventory management system.

Customer, Carrier & Logistics Communication

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, and order-related inquiries.
  • Communicate regularly with the Logistics team to ensure efficient transportation planning and execution.
  • Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries and resolve transportation-related issues.
  • Track shipments and provide updates to Shipping, Receiving, and Scheduling Departments as needed.

Supply & Team Support

  • Organize, maintain, and distribute shipping and receiving supplies to support daily operations.
  • Monitor supply inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to management.
  • Support shipping and receiving personnel by ensuring necessary materials and resources are readily available.
  • Assist with process improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy within shipping and receiving operations.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety requirements, customer specifications, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with USDA, food safety, and company requirements.
  • Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, warehouse operations, or inventory control.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing or meat processing environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/inventory management systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with production, logistics, customers, and transportation providers.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, including refrigerated areas.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support operational requirements.
