This position supervises the OSHA Consultation and Workplace Safety Consultation Programs and assists employers throughout Louisiana in developing and implementing effective safety and health programs. Special emphasis is placed on high-hazard industries and "At Risk Employers" identified through occupational injury, illness, and Experience Modifier Rates. The position also assists the OSHA Consultation Manager with implementing the Workers' Compensation Cost Containment Act and oversees OSHA Consultation Consultants to ensure field offices effectively carry out program goals and procedures.

The Office of Workers' Compensation Administration (OWCA) in Louisiana oversees the enforcement and administration of workers' compensation laws, aiming to support early return-to-work efforts and improve workplace safety. The department manages disputed claims, conducts hearings, reviews medical treatment disputes, and investigates fraud through collaborative efforts like the GAME ON task force.

Minimum Qualifications

Six years of experience in industrial or occupational health or safety, risk management, or safety inspection, monitoring, or consultation; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus three years of experience in industrial or occupational health or safety, risk management, or safety inspection, monitoring, or consultation; OR

A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in industrial or occupational health or safety, risk management, or safety inspection, monitoring, or consultation; OR

An advanced degree plus two years of experience in industrial or occupational health or safety, risk management, or safety inspection, monitoring, or consultation.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

•Required in-state travel (approximately 50%)

•Supervises the statewide OSHA Consultation & Workplace Safety section's services and activities

•Assist OSHA manager with federal budget, overseeing Loss Prevention program, developing strategic plan components, and developing/implementing/monitoring performance reviews for subordinates.

•Reviews professionally written reports to employers and federal OSHA program.

•Promote the SHARP program, Cost Containment program, and utilization of consultation program services.
