Job description


This role will work out of a location or city within the Central Region (e.g., Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina) and must live near a major airport for travel.
The Operations Excellence (OPEX) Specialist plays a tactical role in driving operational performance improvements across designated branches. Working closely with branch leaders and front-line teams, the Specialist supports the execution of continuous improvement initiatives, facilitates collaboration across departments, and ensures alignment with organizational goals and safety standards.
The compensation for this position will be commensurate with education or work experience.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Directly supports branch teams in executing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepares weekly status reports for OPEX leaders and branch managers.
  • Ensures updates to process documentation are communicated and accessible to branch teams.
  • Takes a hands-on approach to help with implementation of branch 5S, spare parts, and consumable storage improvements.
  • Coordinates OPEX activities, training sessions, and project rollouts, and follows up on action items to ensure closure.
  • Monitors adherence to standardized work and escalate deviations to branch leadership, reinforcing new behaviors and practices.
  • Partners with Safety Advisors to embed safety into process improvements and conducts safety/5S Gemba walks with Branch Managers and/or Supervisors.
  • Delivers hands-on coaching to front-line staff on Lean tools and CI practices.
  • Participates in daily huddles and branch meetings to reinforce OPEX practices.
  • Partners with Safety Advisors to embed safety into process improvements.
  • Maintains a tactical checklist for each branch to track readiness and compliance, tracks progress of improvement initiatives and flags deviations for corrective action

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, systems, or another related field or a combination of education and work experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in operations, continuous improvement, or field-based support roles.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing Lean/OPEX initiatives.
  • Proficiency in driving Operations Excellence, Lean, and Change Management.
  • Proven track record of supporting cross-functional teams in executing tactical initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of operational workflows and branch-level performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with visual management systems, SOP documentation, and process mapping.
  • Working knowledge of change management principles and frontline engagement strategies.
  • Basic understanding of safety regulations and how they integrate with process improvements.
  • Comfortable facilitating training sessions and coaching team members in a hands-on environment.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work independently in field settings.
  • The role requires mobility within work environments, use of office equipment, lifting up to 20 pounds, clear vision and hearing, effective communication skills, and occasional travel for meetings and training sessions.
