Job description

Operations Control Center Supervisor

Transdev in Phoenix, AZ is hiring a Supervisor for the Public Transit Operations Control Center (OCC).The Supervisor reports directly to the Project Manager and provides direct oversight of daily operations and Control Center staff.This role is also responsible for managing operational performance, coordinating service through effective communication with all stakeholders, and providing high-level customer support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the performance of Control Center staff by monitoring and auditing work and effectively addressing deficiencies.
  • Directs staff in all duties and assignments
  • Manages on-time performance of Operators by triaging issues that impact service and providing innovative and effective solutions
  • Conducts investigations into service issues, updates all stakeholders, and provides a resolution when needed
  • Handles escalated calls and service issues by identifying the root cause and taking decisive and effective action to address it.
  • Coordinates with all stakeholders and provides superior customer support
  • Ensures adequate Control Center coverage by creating and adjusting staff schedules and ensuring schedule adherence
  • Serves as the backup to the Project Manager
  • Assists with tracking time off and attendance and processing payroll
  • Attends stakeholder meetings and serves as the point of contact in the Project Manager’s absence
  • Accurately completes reports and audits according to the established requirements and deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Technical Degree preferred.
  • 3 years+ of supervisory experience
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use and master specialty transit relates software programs
  • Ability to work effectively with little to no direct supervision
  • Ability to quickly gain a thorough understanding of routes, schedules, fare structures, rules, company policies and procedures, operator and supervisor manuals, as well as the operator labor agreement.
  • Must possess the capability to work in a team orientated environment.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to type at least 35 WPM
  • Knowledge in DOT Rules and Regulations is essential
  • Knowledge of NTD (National Database Reporting for the FTA) is essential.
  • Knowledge of two-way radio systems is a plus
  • Knowledge of the Metropolitan Phoenix area is a plus
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn working systems of buses is a plus
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Majority of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
  • Majority of work is accomplished in the Control Center at a station equipped with a telephone and three computer screens, keyboard, and two-way Radio microphone
  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
