Working Title: Player Development Assistant, Duke Men's Basketball

Position Summary:

The Player Development Assistant is designed for aspiring basketball coaches seeking to gain comprehensive experience in a high-level collegiate basketball environment. The Player Development Assistant will support the coaching staff in player development, scouting, video analysis, practice preparation, recruiting operations, and other responsibilities essential to the success of a Division I basketball program.

Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development principles.

Effective written and verbal communication.

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills needed.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

The scope of this position requires weekend, evening and possible holiday hours.

Travel as required.

Thrive in fast paced environment, possess a keen attention to details, and ability to multi-task.

Essential Functions:

Player Development

Assist coaching staff with the planning and implementation of individual player development workouts.

Provide on-court instruction and skill development support during practices, workouts, and team activities.

Track player development metrics and assist with progress evaluations.

Support the creation and execution of offseason and in-season player improvement plans.

Scouting and Video Analysis

Assist with opponent scouting and game preparation.

Break down game and practice film using video analysis software.

Prepare scouting reports, personnel summaries, and statistical analyses.

Compile video edits for coaches and student-athletes.

Assist with self-scouting and performance evaluation projects.

Practice and Team Operations

Assist in the organization and execution of daily practices.

Support practice planning and preparation of drills and teaching materials.

Coordinate equipment and logistical needs for practices and team activities.

Help maintain practice and game databases.

Recruiting Support

Assist with the organization of recruiting information and evaluations in accordance with NCAA rules.

Assist with recruiting visit preparation and administrative tasks.

Support recruiting communication and database management as directed by coaching staff.

Administrative Responsibilities

Perform basketball-related administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach and assistant coaches.

Support compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations.

Contribute to a positive culture that promotes academic success, character development, and competitive excellence.
