Job description

Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Public Safety Operations/Assistant Chief of Police, is responsible for
day to day security operations for his/her assigned facilities. Provides for the physical security of all
Parkview owned buildings, equipment and grounds and creates a safe Campus Environment with an
emphasis on customer Service and Service Excellence. The Deputy Chief of Police/Security Manager will
be directly responsible for the following:
1. The use of resources, both physical and human, to provide for the efficient operation of his/her
assigned facilities.
2. Ensures that all routine assigned duties are performed in a timely manner.
3. Acts as a mentor to Police/Security Officers and a resource to all staff in the facility.
4. Oversee the investigations conducted by the captains, and tracking and trending incidents so that
patrol services can be directed where needed.
5. Ensures that all staff complete required training annually.
6. Chairs the Workplace Violence Committee.
7. Reports out to the Environment of Care Committee on security matters.
8. Works closely with the Director of Emergency Management to ensure proper preparedness for the
public safety team.
9. Takes corrective action when necessary per the Parkview Health Corrective Action Policy.
10. Completes annual evaluations for all assigned co-workers on time.
11. Conducts reviews of all Officer Involved vehicle accidents.
12. Attends all Hospital Leadership meetings.
13. Conducts reviews of Midas events and ensures follow-ups are completed.
14. Reviews all Use of Force incidents to ensure compliance with departments standards and policies.
15. Prepares a monthly summary of activities involving the following: Work Place Violence, Crimes,
Arrests, Use of Force, and other incidents at his/her hospitals.
16. Builds and maintains relationships with local first responders.
 
Education
An Associate’s degree or sixty (60) hours towards a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Licensure/Certification
IAHSS Certification as a Certified Health Care Protection Administrator preferred. Maintain a valid state
driver's license. Must be certified through the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy within one (1) year of

Experience
A minimum of ten (10) or more years law enforcement, military, or security experience required. Five (5)
or more years of verifiable supervisory experience in Healthcare Security, General Security, Law
Enforcement, Military, or other closely related field required.
 
Other Qualifications
Good verbal and written communication skills. Successfully pass a criminal background check.
