Summary: Responsible for managing programs with multiple projects that contain related strategic initiatives. Also responsible for managing projects as needed, managing scope, cost, schedule, internal staffing and outside vendors, and contractual deliverables. Demonstrates competency mastery and is recognized as an authority on the subject by peers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties or tasks may be assigned as required. Management may modify, change or add to the duties of this description at any time without notice. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Technical Project Execution
  • Lead large high-tech, regulated, product development programs made of up multiple projects with complex scopes, large project teams or high levels of risk, while identifying new business opportunities.
  • Responsible for the overall success of a program including guiding projects within the program to be on-time, on-budget, and meeting or exceeding applicable quality standards.
  • If/when managing individual projects, responsible for project planning, staffing, budget, schedule, vendor management, and contractual deliverables.
  • Understands, communicates, and convinces others about major programmatic tradeoffs and decisions. High level program awareness to identify risks or necessary direction changes early in a program. Responsible for milestones being met across the assigned program.
  • Responsible for identifying, mitigating, managing, and coordinating risk across the assigned program.
  • Applies critical thinking and problem solving at a business level.
  • Generates and updates all necessary reports and presentations to communicate program status, obtain necessary support, and maintain accountability.
  • Coordinate customer-specific processes for continuity across projects (i.e., IT onboarding, customer-specific training, etc.).
  • Maintain positive working relationships with continuity across projects and programs.

Sales & Marketing Support
  • Participate in conferences and other BD events to encourage lasting relationships with customers and industry partners. May focus on specific industry or product.
  • Supports AM with the business expansion portion of sales. Maintain positive, long-term working relationships with current customers. Leader for strategic phasing on large complex projects, practicing top-down estimating tactics.
  • Support all proposals within the program. Mentor project managers as needed in gathering requirements, estimating scope, writing proposals, and strategically articulating product/project risks and assumptions. Projects may be large, high-tech, and regulated with high levels of risk and scope complexity. Participates in marketing strategy discussions and implementation. Generates complex marketing materials under the direction of marketing personnel.

Administrative/Process Improvement & Training
  • Adheres to ALTEN Technology Quality Management System processes s by reviewing, comprehending and maintaining training requirements of position. May support internal and external audits. Identifies and supports process improvements with the assistance of the QA department.
  • Adheres to Scalable Product Development Processes (SPDP) by reviewing, comprehending and maintaining training requirements of position. May support internal and external audits. Identifies and supports process improvements with the assistance of department director.
  • Identifies and supports process improvements within the Programs Group.
  • Completes training directed by managers: webinars, lunch & learns, and other internal/external learning opportunities.
  • Considers personal growth opportunities and requests training of interest. Strategically identifies training opportunities for others and supports implementation of the training. Leads training activities for new industries and markets. Trains other personnel via lunch & learn presentations and/or mentoring.

Leadership & Communication
  • Responsible for consistent reporting at a program level in coordination with the ALTEN account manager. Can lead or support elevation of project issues not being addressed by stakeholders.
  • Foster positive environments where candid discussions can occur to understand and meet customer expectations efficiently.
  • Responds effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Initiates and facilitates meaningful discussions around complex issues. Leads internal change within the organization. Identifies and proposes strategies around technical problems affecting their team, communicates standards and gets buy-in on solutions.
  • Speaks effectively in front of a group. Has the ability to gain the support of the team/organization and redirect their thinking to accomplish a given goal or directive. Can interpret, add to, and execute against cross-functional plans. Works with key stakeholders to make critical decisions. Motivates and empowers teammates to achieve a higher level of performance.
  • Writes papers and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Makes effective and persuasive arguments and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Communicates with manager, peers, and team members for clarification and to gain alignment.
  • Actively demonstrates strong skills in social awareness and relationship management to resolve issues/conflict. Uses Emotional Intelligence (EI) knowledge to grow and lead teams and peers effectively.
  • Be familiar with ALTEN lessons learned applicable to the program for support of project managers.
  • Provide Project Manager oversight and guidance on the assigned program.

Qualifications;
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a technical college or university in engineering or another technical/scientific discipline
  • 20 years of engineering and project management experience combined (minimum 5 years of engineering/product development experience, minimum 10 years of project lead/management experience in a technical field).
  • Must possess hands-on experience with project management and project management leadership.
  • Managing/executing software development projects
  • Project Management experience in a regulated product development environment
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and fundamentals

Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000
Location: Westminster, CO
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
