Building familiarity with electronic health record systems and support resources provided by Humana can also help streamline your workflow and improve patient outcomes.

Job description

On-Call Registered Nurse (RN)
Schedule: Friday 5:00pm-8:00am, Saturday, Sunday, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Every Patient. Every Family. Every Time.
At Mountain Valley, what we do is personal. Personal for those we serve and personal for us. Every day we stand shoulder to shoulder with individuals facing the most daunting challenge they will ever face - a serious, or even a terminal, illness. We help those with advanced illness cope with their day-to-day struggles, whether physical, emotional, social or spiritual. We also aspire to help our communities better understand end-of-life care. For those of us at Mountain Valley, there could never be a more important or rewarding job.
Opportunity
Are you an RN who values meaningful patient connections, clinical autonomy, and a schedule that allows for balance? We are seeking a compassionate and confident Registered Nurse to join our on-call team, providing evening and overnight support to patients and families in the Elkin and Wilkes service area.
This position is ideal for an experienced RN who enjoys focused, independent work while remaining supported by a collaborative and responsive clinical team.
What You'll Do
  • Provide on-call nursing care during evenings and overnight hours
  • Respond to patient needs with skilled assessment, sound clinical judgment, and compassionate care
  • Offer guidance and reassurance to patients, families, and caregivers
  • Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
  • Document care accurately and communicate clearly with team members
Schedule Details
  • On-call shifts:
    • Friday 5:00pm-8:00am, Saturday, Sunday 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.
  • Predictable, consistent on-call schedule
What We're Looking For
  • Current RN license (state-specific requirements apply)
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently while staying connected to a supportive team
  • Calm, confident presence during urgent or after-hours situations
  • Hospice or home health experience preferred, but not required
Why This Role Matters
On-call nurses play a vital role in ensuring comfort, safety, and peace of mind after hours. You'll be trusted, respected, and supported-never "out there alone"-and your work will directly impact patients and families during some of their most vulnerable moments.
What We Offer
  • Competitive on-call compensation
  • Fleet vehicle provided for business use
  • Supportive leadership and clinical backup
  • Meaningful work with purpose and heart
  • A team culture that appreciates and respects on-call staff

If you're looking for a role where your experience is valued, your schedule is predictable, and your work truly matters, we would love to talk with you.
