SCHOOL OFFICE ASSISTANT
The Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Cross Trainers Academy (CTA) is a K4-12th grade Christian Academy in the heart of Milwaukee, serving students and families who are searching for a strong academic learning experience in a gospel-centered environment. As a Choice School, CTA is committed to offering a comprehensive, student-centered educational experience that serves the whole student.
Cross Trainer’s Academy is seeking a full-time Office Assistant. The Office Assistant provides support to building administration and staff members, as well as assisting students and parents to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the school.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday: 7:00am-4:00pm, Tuesday-Friday: 7:00am-3:00pm. (12 month position)
LOCATION: North Campus, 1530 W. Center Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53206
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls on a multiple switchboard phone system
  • Receive and check in parents, students, guests, and volunteers in the front office. Communicate directly with school security (in proximity)
  • Assist students in the school health room (shared responsibility with other front office staff)
  • Assist student, parents and families through daily interactions
  • Assist school administrators as needed with daily responsibilities or ongoing projects
  • Utilize PowerSchool online student information system on a daily basis
  • Manage student files
  • Work with our busing company and parents to manage daily transportation
  • Place CTA office orders and receive and distribute North campus purchasing orders
  • Attend school-wide events, such as Back-to-School and parent conferences
  • Perform other tasks as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma/GED required, Associate/Bachelor degree in Education or related field preferred
  • Previous reception experience or experience working with children preferred
  • Competent in the following platforms: Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse families, to use discretion and to stay calm and tactful under pressure
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in our online student information system (PowerSchool), or willing to learn
  • Detail orientated with high degree of accuracy
  • Good communication skills with students, parents and staff
  • Ability and willingness to follow instructions, to be flexible, and a team player
  • Reliability, dependability, and punctuality are expected
  • Must be able to handle physical workload – ability to sit and stand for long periods of time, walking, stair climbing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, as well as occasional lifting or moving items with a maximum weight of 55lbs a short distance (ex: floor to shelf or cart), and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly.
