Ocean Exports Manager – 77073
Position Overview
The Ocean Exports Manager oversees and manages all aspects of ocean export operations to ensure the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods to international destinations. This role requires strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, carrier negotiations, export documentation, and customer service. The manager serves as the primary point of contact between clients, carriers, customs brokers, and internal departments to ensure seamless logistics execution.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Ocean Export Operations: Oversee day-to-day export shipments from booking through delivery, ensuring all documentation and compliance requirements are met.
  • Carrier & Vendor Coordination: Negotiate rates and service agreements with ocean carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners to optimize cost and performance.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Prepare, review, and manage export documentation (Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, etc.) in accordance with international trade regulations and company policies.
  • Customer Relations: Serve as the main liaison for export customers, providing updates, resolving issues, and ensuring timely communication.
  • Customs & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all U.S. and foreign export laws (including AES filings, Incoterms, and documentation for hazardous or restricted cargo).
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and train export coordinators or specialists, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor KPIs related to shipment accuracy, transit times, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot shipment delays, documentation discrepancies, or customs clearance issues proactively.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with sales, warehousing, finance, and procurement teams to align shipping schedules with business needs.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 5+ years in ocean export operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of international shipping documentation, Incoterms, and U.S. export regulations.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with logistics software (CargoWise, SAP, or similar), Microsoft Office Suite, and online carrier portals.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Certifications (Preferred): IATA/FIATA Certification, Customs Broker License, or Certified Export Specialist (CES).
