About the Company - Kirby Bates Associates has been exclusively retained by Aspirus Health to conduct a search for their next Director, System Nursing Informatics based in Wausau, Wisconsin. Aspirus Health is a non-profit, community-directed health system, with a network of 19 hospitals, clinics, post-acute care facilities, and a health plan dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients across Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The organization is committed to delivering innovative healthcare services, advancing patient safety, and promoting clinical excellence through its team of dedicated healthcare professionals.

About the Role - Aspirus is seeking a Director of System Nursing Informatics to serve as a strategic liaison between nursing, medical staff, and technology, ensuring that health information systems support clinical care delivery. This role leads the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of IT solutions to enhance nursing practice and optimize clinical workflows. The Director oversees EHR improvements through a governance structure involving key stakeholders and aligns technology roadmaps with Aspirus Health's strategic goals, regulatory standards, and nursing care objectives. As a domain expert in healthcare technology and evidence-based nursing, this role drives change management, promotes professional development, and fosters a collaborative environment for staff.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement: Articulate and align the department’s goals with Aspirus system imperatives, driving patient safety, clinical quality, and risk management. Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote collaboration and shared goals.
  • Clinical Workflow Optimization & Informatics Innovation: Lead initiatives to optimize clinical workflows within Epic, incorporating best practices and ensuring alignment with external standards. Drive informatics solutions that enhance patient safety, clinical efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
  • Professional Development & Continuous Improvement: Support nursing informatics initiatives, professional development, and shared governance, while actively participating in quality and patient safety programs to promote workflow efficiency, resource optimization, and staff engagement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing; Master’s Degree in nursing or informatics required. DNP preferred.
  • 5+ years of direct clinical care experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a progressive informatics leadership position within an integrated healthcare system.
  • Extensive experience working with Epic core systems.
