The Nurse Midwife possesses a higher level of expertise in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of complex responses of individuals, families and communities to actual or potential health problems. The Nurse Midwife works as a leader, innovator and change agent in the pursuit of excellence in nursing practice and quality of patient care.
The role of the Nurse Midwife includes that of practitioner, educator, consultant and researcher. The Nurse Midwife is committed to evidence and research-based practice and incorporates evaluation, outcomes management and informatics into all aspects of their work.
Qualifications
1. Completion of undergraduate and graduate nursing education from an accredited school of nursing at the master's or doctoral level - Midwifery required
2. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio; Ohio Certificate of Authority as a Nurse Midwife as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing (COA)
3. National Certification as a Nurse Midwife; Current CPR certification
4. Five years clinical experience with three years in area of specialty preferred
