Job description
The Nonprofit Advisory team empowers mission-driven organizations to overcome financial and operational challenges with confidence. Focused exclusively on the nonprofit sector, we deliver tailored strategies to improve financial reporting, streamline operations, and strengthen compliance. From CFO advisory and audit prep to grants management and succession planning, Forvis Mazars takes a collaborative, hands-on approach that aligns with each client's unique mission.
What You Will Do:
- Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of financial, accounting, and compliance consulting projects, with a primary focus on nonprofit organizations.
- Oversee end-to-end project management, including planning, execution, and supervision of engagements related to process improvement, operational assessments, compliance, and financial reporting.
- Review and support accounting outsourcing services, including:
- Preparation of general ledger entries and financial statements
- Month-end and year-end close processes
- Account and bank reconciliations
- Audit readiness and support
- Direct and participate in evaluations of Federal and State grant compliance, as well as other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct operational and financial assessments of clients' grants management, finance functions, internal controls, and related policies and procedures.
- Lead the development and implementation of financial and operational policies and procedures tailored to client needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client engagements, managing communication, scheduling, and relationship development.
- Perform industry and technical research to support the development of innovative client solutions
- Leverage technology and best practices to enhance internal project workflows and client deliverables.
- Support business development efforts, including lead qualification, proposal development, and client relationship expansion.
- Utilize tools such as Outlook and social media platforms for client communications, including email campaigns and content distribution.
- Mentor, develop, and manage junior staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring high-quality project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in nonprofit accounting or consulting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Client Service Experience
- Current and valid CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Blackbaud FENXT, Sage Intacct, NetSuite
- Private industry accounting department role
