Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000 per year

Position Overview
The Boston Bar Association seeks a strategic, relationship-driven professional to lead engagement efforts that strengthen how law students, new lawyers, and emerging leaders connect with the Association and the broader legal community. This role combines strategy and execution, with responsibility for designing and managing programs, partnerships, and participation pathways that expand involvement in the BBAโs mission and build a stronger pipeline into membership, leadership, and service.
The ideal candidate brings strong project management, communication, and partnership-building skills, along with an understanding of the evolving needs of the legal profession. A J.D. or relevant legal industry experience is strongly preferred, though this is a non-practicing role.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and manage engagement strategies, programs, and events that expand participation in the BBAโs mission, with a focus on reaching lawyers and future leaders who may not engage through traditional pathways.
- Partner with law schools to create and implement outreach strategies, programs, and events that introduce students to the BBA, connect them with BBA members, and encourage early involvement in the legal community.
- Develop and deliver new lawyer programming, including essentials education, mentoring, and career development initiatives, informed by feedback from early-career attorneys and legal employers.
- Manage the full lifecycle of the Public Interest Leadership Program (PILP), including outreach, class selection, curriculum planning, program delivery, and alumni engagement.
- Oversee BBA Networks as assigned (i.e. Government Lawyers, New Lawyers, and Solo & Small Firm), including planning and supporting programs that connect members across practice areas and increase participation in the Association.
- Collaborate with the Director of Professional Development to plan and deliver programs that advance the community and service dimensions of the BBAโs mission.
- Recruit, support, and coordinate committees, advisory groups, program faculty, volunteers, and emerging leaders involved in the Associationโs engagement and professional development work.
- Monitor trends, challenges, and emerging issues affecting lawyers, especially newer lawyers, and use those insights to shape responsive programs, resources, and forums.
- Work with marketing and communications staff to promote programs, increase attendance, and strengthen visibility for engagement opportunities.
- Track participation, feedback, and other program metrics to evaluate performance, identify improvement opportunities, and inform future planning.
- Represent the BBA at meetings, events, and partnership opportunities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or COO/AED.
Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience, including leadership in program strategy, member engagement, professional development, community-building, or related work within legal, nonprofit, association, higher education, or professional services environments
- J.D. required
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
Preferred
- Experience facilitating discussions, convenings, or professional programs preferred.
- Familiarity with the legal profession and the unique needs of attorneys at different career stages strongly preferred.
