Assistant General Counsel - Conflicts & Legal Ethics
Position Summary:

This is a non-practicing attorney role responsible for advising on conflicts of interest, legal ethics, and professional responsibility. The position plays a critical role in managing risk while supporting firm business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct conflicts of interest analysis, including identification, evaluation, and resolution
  • Review and advise on conflicts checks, waivers, and client consent processes
  • Provide guidance on legal ethics and Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Partner with attorneys, partners, and internal teams on risk and compliance matters
  • Support new business intake and ongoing client engagement risk assessments
  • Balance risk mitigation with business enablement across the firm
Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • 3-8 years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience as a Conflicts Attorney, Risk & Ethics Counsel, or internal Associate/Assistant General Counsel
  • Strong law firm experience (required)
Required Skills & Expertise:
  • Conflicts checks, analysis, waivers, and consent management
  • Deep knowledge of Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Experience working with partners, intake teams, and risk/compliance functions
  • Strong analytical, communication, and advisory skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience within large or mid-sized law firms
  • Ability to navigate complex ethical and compliance issues in a fast-paced environment
Not a Fit For:
  • Pure litigation or corporate practice attorneys without conflicts/ethics experience
  • Entry-level JD candidates
  • Non-attorney compliance professionals
  • Candidates without law firm experience
Compensation:
  • Base Salary: $175,000 - $230,000
  • Bonus eligibility included
