Responsibilities for this Position

If so, General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an exciting career opportunity for you as a Senior Network & Systems Engineer for the Information Technology - Limited Access Area (LAA) Team as part of Engineering Support Services. This position is a primary role as a Network Engineer, with a secondary focus as a Systems Engineer.
In this role as a Senior Network & Systems Engineer you will:
  • Provide day-to-day communication/network security operation and maintenance of multiple secure network infrastructures such as SIPRNet.
  • Design, develop, build, and test network engineering solutions as part of a team that introduces new technologies and/or improves existing technologies in compliance with established project management processes.
  • Lead major project initiatives and develop configurations using expertise in routing protocols, firewalls, datacenter protocols, security requirements and network virtualization.
  • Troubleshoot, develop and design network architectures consisting of multilevel access and multilevel security platforms.
  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, VOIP systems, video teleconferencing, and various other network and telecommunication components.
  • Analyze and determine corrective action for secure data communications networks.
  • Implement US government COMSEC/NIST standards and practices.
  • Program, install, load, and troubleshoot KG-175 TACLANE Encryptors.
  • Install new software, troubleshoot, grant permissions to applications.
  • Day-to-day support of server services by performing server administration for physical and virtual server operating systems and configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting of both physical and virtual.
  • Perform OS and vendor software patching on servers and monitor physical and virtual servers performance using monitoring tools.

What you bring to our team:
  • A Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. You may also bring equivalent relevant experience and certifications.
  • CCNP preferred, at minimum CCNA.
  • Considered to be expert and an authority in discipline.
  • Experience with Cisco/Palo Alto Network Infrastructure Components including:
    • Cisco Catalyst and Nexus Data Center Switches.
    • Cisco ISR and ASR Platform Routers.
    • UCS Virtualization.
    • Cisco ASA / FTD Security Appliances.
    • Palo Alto NGFW.
  • Experience in the fielding and operations of TACLANE Encrypters.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Extensive demonstrated experience and ability in working with TCP/IP as it relates to Subnetting, DHCP, DNS, security, Packet Analysis / Troubleshooting.
    • Demonstrated experience in deploying, working with and troubleshooting Firewall Systems, Policies and ACLs.
    • Experience with AAA systems including Radius, LDAP, TACACS and Cisco ISE.
    • Experience with Cisco ISE for 802.1x.
    • Experience with BGP.
    • Understand PKI.
  • Familiarity with compliance controls: STIGs/CIS Benchmarks, NIST SP 800-171/800-53, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), System Security Plans.
  • Experience with implementing Linux/Windows security controls to maintain system compliance.
  • Experience working within the requirements of a change management system.
  • Proficient with Tenable Nessus, Splunk.
  • Proficient creating/modifying Microsoft Visio network diagrams.
  • Experience with vSphere and or Hyper-V.
  • Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) certification or able to obtain within a short period.
  • Endpoint Security Solution (ESS) certification or able to obtain within a short period.
