Network Systems Engineer
Location: Washington, DC (onsite)
Clearance: Secret (Top Secret preferred)
Status: Exempt
Salary: $110k/yr - $130k/yr
About This Role
IntelliDyne LLC is seeking a Network Systems Engineer who will monitor, manage, configure, and maintain the network and several connectivity systems. The candidate will install, maintain, and test complex infrastructure hardware and software. They must be able to work independently within given boundaries and think critically. They must also be able to communicate effectively with the client as changes are planned and outages are experienced.
Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve various issues with server, network, and storage infrastructure.
  • Monitor and maintain network and system health using tools such as WhatsUp Gold, Nagios, and ServiceNow to detect issues, generate alerts, and support incident management for enterprise infrastructure.
  • Perform build, configuration, and implementation of network infrastructure including routers, firewalls, switches, and VPN systems.
  • Take ownership of incidents and identify problem trends to improve overall environment dependability and meet Service Level Agreements.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain virtual local area networks, wireless area networks, and authentication measures.
  • Support connectivity of development and production environments consisting of Microsoft Windows Server, on-premises storage systems, cloud connectivity at AWS and Microsoft Azure, and VMware solutions.
  • Write scripts as applicable to configure monitoring tools and escalations.
  • Provide WAN/LAN support for multi-vendor environments, including connectivity, configuration, and firmware management.
  • Provide technical expertise for network and security vendor devices undergoing patch management.
  • Own transparent communication with leadership by escalating incidents, emerging risks, and key decisions that require management awareness, to support proactive responsiveness.

Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree in networking, systems engineering, or similar field
  • 7+ years of relevant networking/systems experience
  • One of the following certifications: M365E/X, VCP, CCNP, LPIC, or Linux+

Preferred:
  • Experience deploying servers or embedded systems and sub-components
  • Ability to analyze system performance and identify risks
  • Experience deploying and supporting virtual network infrastructures including VDI and Server Virtualization
  • Experience creating and maintaining System Design documentation such as network architecture diagrams, IP schemas, and standard operating procedures.
  • Proficiency with Windows or Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge of IP networking and VPN solutions
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to work autonomously under pressure, while effectively coordinating within a mid-sized team.
