The Opportunity:
Join a mission-driven team supporting critical Air Force network modernization across CONUS installations. As a Network Operations Technician, you'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of newly deployed and legacy IT infrastructure. Working in a dynamic Network Operations Center (NOC), you'll triage complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and maintain seamless configuration and operations across enterprise routers, switches, servers, and security systems. This role offers the chance to directly impact national defense readiness while growing your expertise in advanced networking and enterprise-scale infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and evaluate network performance by observing legacy environments and comparing behavior against established baselines.
  • Create, manage, and respond to incident tickets; perform triage aligned with SOPs and knowledge articles.
  • Diagnose and resolve IT hardware and software issues across servers, storage, user systems, networks, and security components.
  • Administer and maintain assigned infrastructure while ensuring user-related security controls remain compliant.
  • Apply security patches, OS upgrades, IAVA updates, and conduct system patching to preserve environment integrity.
  • Support implementation of new infrastructure projects and technical refreshes within designated sites.
  • Maintain comprehensive configuration documentation and develop/update configuration templates for switch and router deployments.
  • Perform Cisco (or equivalent) device upgrades and apply initial configuration templates during installation.
  • Troubleshoot system failures, accessibility issues, and network service disruptions, documenting findings and actions.
  • Monitor outages and overall network health; leverage TTPs and SOPs to resolve tickets efficiently.
  • Provide training on network operations procedures (TTPs/SOPs) as required.
  • Participate in engineering design data calls and support network modernization and enhancement initiatives.
  • Work independently with periodic supervision, executing network ticket resolution and staging new switches/routers using admin access.
  • Conduct incident analysis, research errors, and perform root cause analysis using administrative access to network components.
  • Route service requests to appropriate resolving organizations when necessary.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 5 years relevant experience OR High school diploma or Associate degree and 7 years of experience as a Network Operations Technician supporting large, complex networks within a NOC environment

Desired:
  • Experience supporting DoD programs, particularly network modernization initiatives
  • General proficiency with Microsoft applications (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint)
  • ITIL v3 or ITSM experience
  • CCNA or Juniper experience
  • DoD 8570 IAT III Baseline Certification (Security+ or CCNA-SEC)

Pay Range:
There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
