Schedule
Sunday through Saturday, including weekends and federal holidays, as scheduled. Typical duty hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Position Summary
The Unarmed Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for visitors, employees, contractors, and Government property. This position requires conducting routine patrols, monitoring cemetery grounds and facilities, assisting visitors, reporting security concerns, and responding appropriately to incidents while maintaining the respectful atmosphere expected at a national cemetery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct foot and vehicle patrols throughout assigned areas.
  • Monitor buildings, gates, parking areas, memorials, and cemetery grounds.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, or security concerns.
  • Assist visitors by providing directions and general information.
  • Help maintain orderly access during funerals, ceremonies, and special events.
  • Complete daily activity logs and incident reports.
  • Communicate with cemetery personnel and emergency responders when required.
  • Safeguard Government property and report damaged or unsecured facilities.
  • Follow established post orders, site procedures, and company policies.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and courteous demeanor at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Valid California BSIS Guard Card.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background investigation.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to prepare clear written reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong observation, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in security, military, law enforcement, or protective services.
  • Experience working at Government facilities, cemeteries, hospitals, or other public sites.
  • Familiarity with access control, incident documentation, and patrol operations.
Physical Requirements
  • Walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Patrol outdoor areas over varying terrain.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
  • Maintain alertness and respond quickly to emergency situations.
