Job description

Job Title: Seasonal Cemetery Worker FLSA: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Department: Cemetery Reports to: Cemetery Director
Salary Range: $11.00
This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the major responsibilities and requirements of this job. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this specification. Any essential function or requirement of this class will be evaluated as necessary should an incumbent/applicant be unable to perform the function or requirement due to a disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
General Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the Cemetery Director and performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of cemetery facilities and systems.
Essential Duties:
Weed eat, mow, landscape, trim, prune all vegetation and grass maintaining a clean well groomed appearance of the cemetery grounds. All other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge: Some knowledge of equipment to be used.
Abilities: Come to work on time, follow directions, be honest and dependable, maintain safe work environment, be cooperative, have a positive attitude, be courteous and considerate team member, manage time effectively, concentrate on work, recognize problems and find solutions. Ability to perform manual tasks for extended periods of time; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Skill: Skill in operation of the listed tools and equipment.
Tools & Equipment:
Push and zero-turn radius mowers, weed eater, trimmers, edger, all safety equipment required during the use of such equipment.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell.
The employee must lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud in field settings, and moderately quiet in office settings.
