The Multimedia Designer is responsible for producing high quality multimedia content that supports Optum Workers' Compensation and Auto No Fault marketing, business development, sales enablement, and thought leadership initiatives. The role is primarily focused on video, audio, podcast production, motion graphics, digital storytelling, and end to end multimedia production, while also providing general graphic design support for standalone business, marketing, and sales enablement needs such as sales slicks, presentation clean up, templates, and other brand aligned visual materials.

The Multimedia Designer helps facilitate internal and external communications by transforming complex concepts, data, interviews, presentations, podcasts, and narratives into clear, engaging content across video, audio, motion, digital, and supporting print formats.

This position collaborates closely with Marketing, Business Development, Communications, Product teams, and executive stakeholders to create polished assets that reinforce brand credibility, support go to market initiatives, and increase audience engagement.

Success in this role depends on strong multimedia production skills, creative storytelling, sound visual judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects accurately in a fast paced, collaborative environment. The Multimedia Designer should be comfortable exploring new formats, production techniques, and tools, including emerging technologies like AI, to enhance organizational communication while following enterprise standards.

Key skills include: 

  • Strong multimedia production skills, including the ability to create, edit, and deliver clear, compelling, and on brand video, podcast, audio, motion, and digital storytelling content.
  • Ability to lead podcast production from planning through final delivery, including episode preparation, recording coordination, audio editing, post production, quality control, and distribution ready file preparation.
  • Experience developing multimedia content for marketing, business development, sales enablement, internal communications, and thought leadership needs.
  • Ability to translate complex information, scripts, and source materials into accessible visual narratives, storyboards, motion concepts, and finished multimedia deliverables.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality, consistency, and brand standards.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to incorporate feedback while maintaining design integrity.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously.

This position is full time (40 hours / week). Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. 

We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be based on schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.  

Primary Responsibilities: 

Multimedia, podcast production, and digital storytelling

  • Create and edit multimedia assets, including video, podcasts, audio, motion graphics, animated visual content, recorded presentations, webinars, interviews, and other digital storytelling deliverables
  • Lead podcast production from planning through final delivery, including episode preparation, recording coordination, guest or stakeholder readiness, audio editing, post production, quality control, and distribution ready file preparation
  • Manage end to end multimedia production activities, including concept development, storyboarding, editing, post production, review cycles, and final delivery
  • Translate concepts, scripts, data, and narratives into compelling multimedia formats that align with brand, message, accessibility, and audience expectations
  • Repurpose existing presentations, webinars, interviews, and campaign materials into polished, brand aligned multimedia assets for internal and external use
  • Refine multimedia output based on stakeholder feedback, brand guidance, accessibility needs, and performance insights to improve clarity and engagement

Graphic design and visual communications support

  • Provide standalone graphic design support for business, marketing, and sales enablement needs, including sales slicks, PowerPoint presentation clean up, one page flyers, client facing leave behinds, proposal graphics, meeting materials, templates, infographics, social media assets, event signage, and other ad hoc visual communications requests
  • Create and refine brand aligned visual assets, layouts, and templates for standalone design assignments that may or may not be directly tied to multimedia production
  • Refresh or clean up existing materials to improve clarity, hierarchy, formatting, consistency, and brand alignment, particularly for sales presentations, internal decks, client materials, and go to market collateral
  • Develop layouts and visual frameworks that simplify complex information for executive, client, and market audiences
  • Prepare final design files for digital and print distribution, ensuring technical accuracy, accessibility, and production readiness
  • Maintain and organize design assets, templates, multimedia files, and shared visual resources to support consistency and efficient reuse

Cross-functional collaboration and quality control

  • Partner with Marketing, Communications, Business Development, Product, and leadership teams to understand requirements, objectives, and audience needs
  • Incorporate stakeholder feedback efficiently while maintaining creative quality and brand consistency
  • Ensure all designs and multimedia assets meet accessibility standards and enterprise quality expectations
  • Stay current on multimedia production, motion, video, audio, design tools, trends, and best practices to continuously improve creative output and efficiency

Software and platform experience

The Multimedia Designer is expected to have working experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, the following enterprise approved tools and platforms used across the organization: 

Video and multimedia creation tools

  • Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing and post production
  • Podcast and audio production tools or approved enterprise platforms for recording support, audio cleanup, editing, mixing, and final file preparation

Design and visual production tools

  • Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, for print, digital, presentation, and general visual design needs
  • Adobe After Effects for motion graphics, animation, and visual effects
  • Adobe Media Encoder or equivalent enterprise approved tools for video output optimization and delivery
  • Experience working with recorded webinar, presentation, or interview footage to produce polished, brand aligned audio and video assets

Brand, digital, and content platforms

  • Optum Design Standards and UHG Design Libraries for brand aligned digital and visual execution
  • Adobe Experience Manager for managing and supporting website graphics and downloadable digital assets
  • Microsoft 365, including PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Stream for collaboration, presentation design, video distribution, and asset sharing
  • Experience with utilizing Figma to create collaborative design systems, wireframes, prototypes, and digital assets that support seamless cross-functional workflows and consistent user experiences

Emerging and AI assisted capabilities

  • Responsible use of AI assisted design capabilities available within approved enterprise tools for ideation, layout exploration, image enhancement, and workflow efficiency
  • Ability to adapt to evolving enterprise policies related to AI, accessibility, brand governance, and data security while leveraging new capabilities as they become available

Required Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • Experience developing video, podcast, motion, audio, and multimedia content for corporate, agency, marketing, OR B2B audiences
  • Experience producing podcasts OR audio based thought leadership content, including episode planning, recording coordination, editing, cleanup, mixing, quality control, and preparing final files for distribution
  • Proficiency with standard multimedia, video editing, motion graphics, audio, and graphic design tools used for digital and print production
  • Portfolio multimedia production experience, including video editing, podcast OR audio production, motion graphics, digital storytelling, and general graphic design work

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,200 to $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
