Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The MRI Quality Senior Specialist is an integral member of the MRI department at Boston Medical Center. This technologist functions as a quality specialist, MRI technologist, coordinator, investigator, and educator. Working closely with the Manager of MRI services, the MRI Quality Senior Specialist anticipates problems before they arise and finds solutions to issues affecting the department's daily operations. The MRI Quality Senior Specialist is responsible for overseeing all MRI technologists and is a point-person to MRI technologists for guidance and assistance in optimizing daily workflows.
The MRI Quality Senior Specialist time is devoted to scanning less than (25%) and facilitation (75%). Working days and hours are flexible in conjunction with department operating needs and will be dictated by the Manager of MRI services.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
  • Verifies compliance of various quality procedures (ACR phantoms, cleaning/metal detector/medication logs, administering annual competency checklists and more)
  • Builds regular MRI Technology work schedules and ensures proper staffing levels
  • Plays an integral role in interviewing and contributing to hiring decisions with MRI leadership
  • Responsible for onboarding new employees with an appropriate level of training about quality initiatives
  • Partners with MRI Manager and supervisor to regularly evaluate employee MRI specific quality competencies and helps create action plans to address areas for improvement
  • Updates and maintains safety practices and protocols across all MRI scanners in partnership with Manager
  • Educates and trains all MRI technologists on new scanning methods and departmental procedures while also ensuring staff are knowledgeable of current practices
  • Works alongside MRI leadership team on various projects and initiatives that may include process improvement, clinical quality, care delivery and patient or employee satisfaction
  • Develops and maintains device/implant log containing safety information on medical devices and possible contraindications to MRI
  • Researches and logs safety information on medical devices, implants and other possible contraindications individual patients may possess
  • Provides coverage as an MRI technologist as necessary
  • Orders and requests departmental supplies

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Knowledge of principles and procedures of MRI and the operation and maintenance of equipment generally acquired through the completion of training either in an ARRT approved formal educational program or through fulfillment of the didactic and clinical requirements for advanced registration in MRI as outlined by the ARRT.
Associates degree, Bachelors preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Certification in MRI from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
BLS
EXPERIENCE:
At least five years (5+) working as an MRI technologist
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):
  • Knowledge of Philips, Siemens and GE MRI scanner software required
  • Strong understanding of cross sectional anatomy, MR image acquisition and evaluation
  • Understanding and enforcement of various MRI safety practices
  • Ability to rely on experience, judgement and time management skills to plan and accomplish goals
  • Leadership abilities, prior experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Prior experience working in a busy academic institution preferred
  • Ability to teach and supervise others
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite

Compensation Range:
$34.38- $50.00
This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
