Job description

Elementary School Wellness & Movement Coach

New York

Thanks for your interest in Success Academy! Running a large, fast-growing, and high-performing network of public charter schools takes a village - families, children, teachers, staff and faculty, advocates, and supporters alike. We are growing fast in New York and expanding to Florida, and we would love to welcome you to our community! We work tirelessly every day to ensure children have access to a fun, rigorous, whole-child education regardless of zip code or economic status. When you join SA, you play a part in giving every student who walks through our doors a fair shot at reaching his or her potential.

At SA, non-academic subjects aren't 'extra' but essential. Arts and Athletics electives serve as critical, creative outlets for scholars to explore and develop their passions. We expect our coaches to be masters of their craft and bring the same level of rigor to a classroom-based fitness session as one would find on a competitive athletic field.

The Role

We are seeking a creative and results-driven Wellness & Movement Coach who excels at transforming small spaces into high-energy hubs of physical development. In this role, you will adapt traditional athletic concepts for a classroom setting, ensuring scholars remain active, challenged, and engaged regardless of the square footage.

In this role, you will:

  • Innovate in Small Spaces: Adapt and deliver physical activity sessions, including yoga, calisthenics, and flexibility training, tailored specifically for classroom environments and limited-space settings.
  • Drive Excellence: Be part of a highly motivated team committed to education reform and the building of exemplary schools.
  • Collaborate: With coaches across the network to develop a world-class wellness program that prioritizes scholar health and kinesthetic awareness.
  • Inspire: Cultivate a love for movement and healthy living, encouraging critical thinking through instruction that connects physical discipline to academic focus.
  • Lead: Coordinate and lead family meetings to promote wellness habits at home.
  • Grow: Receive routine, ongoing feedback and professional development from an outstanding leadership team.

We invite you to apply if you:

  • Have experience coaching youth in specialized movement disciplines (e.g., yoga, dance, martial arts, strength and conditioning, SAQ, or gymnastics).
  • Possess spatial creativity to lead engaging, safe, and high-intensity activities within a classroom or small-room footprint.
  • Are able to develop and teach concepts such as mindfulness, body mechanics, healthy lifestyles, and perseverance.
  • Have a demonstrated track record of propelling students' understanding of physical fitness and self-regulation.
  • Have an advanced understanding of one or more of the following:
    • Yoga & Mindfulness
    • Static Strength & Isometric Training
    • Mobility & Stretching Protocols
    • Low-Impact Aerobics
  • Have experience working with K-4 grades in a school setting (a plus).
  • Are highly organized and able to manage both administrative tasks and active coaching with excellence.
  • Have a drive to ensure that joyful, rigorous instruction is delivered to every scholar, every day.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.

Compensation Range

$65,000 - $65,000 USD

Success Academy Charter Schools is an equal opportunity employer and actively encourages applications from people of all backgrounds. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Success Academy offers a full benefits program and opportunities for professional growth.
