Job Summary

Join our team as an Electrical Design Engineer, helping champion the development of low voltage electrical systems/components across our motorcycle portfolio. This position will collaborate with a global engineering development team to develop and validate component designs and ensure electrical functions meet H-D performance, quality, and cost benchmarks. This role requires hands-on problem solving, design rigor, and strong organizational skills to drive successful development of a wide-range of electrical system components.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical component designs and test plans with global engineering partner and approve designs for production.
  • Resolve technical issues by applying problem-solving techniques, collecting data, and facilitating cross-functional support from the Engineering and Test organizations.
  • Support vehicle-level system integration activities, regulatory homologation events, pre-production vehicle builds, and vehicle launch builds.
  • Decompose high-level requirements into system-level requirements across multiple motorcycle domains, which may include:
    • Powertrain and engine control functions
    • Lighting and electrical subsystem behaviors
    • Ride mode management and vehicle configuration strategies
    • Enhanced chassis control systems (ABS, traction, stability, braking)
    • Rider interface, sensor integration, and other embedded functions
  • Ensure that system requirements are traceable, testable, and aligned with program goals throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with development and test teams to drive robust systems verification plan that meets program milestones for DV, PV, SOP.
  • Oversee component design decisions to ensure achievement of all program-level requirements with emphasis on simplification and optimization.

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciecne, or a related technical field 
Experience Requirements

A successful candidate will have at least 3 years of related experience. In addition, they will have demonstrated many of the following: 

  • Experience in transportation, automotive, powersports, or similar regulated environments. Understanding of automotive/motorcycle development cycles, safety considerations, and regulatory/environmental requirements.
  • Creative approach to solving problems and ability to own issue resolution from data collection, data analysis, root cause identification, solution set generation, to selection of optimal solution.
  • Strong interest (direct experience desired) working with electrical systems that utilize controller area networks (CAN) and Vector or similar CAN tools.
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects in a clear, concise manner to multiple levels of the organization.
  • Experience supporting verification/validation activities or integrating requirements into test plans is a plus.
  • Experience in systems engineering, requirements engineering, controls engineering, or related technical fields.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
