Description:

Application engineers work as a bridge between customers and engineering teams. They use customer input and sales information to coordinate with engineering teams who then design or redesigns, develops, tests, and implements complex software problems and applications. They provide technical support and expertise to customers by testing applications and responding to feedback. They perform installations and maintenance and often perform sales presentations and demonstrations on various vehicle platforms.


 Key Job Responsibilities 

  • Liaison between customers and engineering teams providing customer input and sales information to design or re-design, develop, test, and implement complex software programs and applications.
  • Product application support for all engineering projects.
  • Build and maintain a centralized technical documentation library.
  • Application and integration support for software development.
  • Support for the following areas: field technical, customer service, sales, initial installation, and trade shows.
  • Provide support in other areas internally to assist in new product development, standards testing, and product maintenance.
  • Provide effective technical support and expertise to customers by meeting customer expectations and deliverables, testing applications, and responding to customer feedback. Manage customer projects from all technical aspects including hardware and software.
  • Provide support for testing products and integration techniques and communicating to all levels of technical ability both internally and externally.
  • Recommend new technologies and existing technologies to solve the complex problems presented by the customers.
  • Field testing on various vehicles and platforms to include: Industrial/Construction Equipment, Marine, Off-Highway Vehicles, and On-Highway Motorcycles.
  • Requires travel, including international, up to 30% of the year maximum.
Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline. 

Experience and Skills

  • Ability to produce detailed but concise written work instructions pertaining to customer requirements, production improvements, purchasing assistance, etc.
  • Experience in managing projects and customers technically
  • Experience with engine harnesses and CAN bus applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to learn new tasks outside of main discipline
  • Have a high sense of urgency to meet or exceed customer expectations, and achieve daily commitments
  • Must meet all travel and destination requirements for domestic and international travel
