Job description

IT Technician 

Habitat Energy is a fast growing technology company focused on the physical and financial optimisation of energy storage and renewable generation assets globally through complex models and trading. By maximising the returns from these assets we aim to drive investment in renewable energy and accelerate the transition to a low carbon world. Our rapidly growing team of 130+ people in Austin, TX, Oxford, UK, and Melbourne, Australia brings together exceptionally talented and passionate people in the domains of energy trading, data science, software engineering and renewable energy management.

We have an opportunity for an IT Technician to join our US Tech team based in Austin. This role will require a high degree of responsibility, enthusiasm and ownership of local IT infrastructure and reports to the Head of Infrastructure and Security. 

Your responsibilities will include:

Local IT & Networking

  • Cross-Platform Support: Provide Tier 1 & 2 desktop support for a mixed environment of macOS (primary) and Windows 11 hardware.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex hardware, software, and basic networking issues (Wi-Fi, VPN, AV, printing) both in-person and remotely.

Cloud Infrastructure Management 

  • Cloud Administration: Manage user lifecycle (onboarding/offboarding), shared drives, and security groups within Google Workspace.
  • MDM Management: Execute device enrollment, profile configuration, and app deployment using Mosyle for Apple endpoints and Intune for windows.

Data & Platform Security

  • Endpoint Security: Help monitor and maintain office-wide security posture using Sophos (antivirus, encryption, and threat response).

Requirements

Required skills and experience:

  • Approximately 3-5 years of professional IT support experience in a corporate or managed services environment.
  • Proficiency with the Apple ecosystem, including hardware repairs, macOS troubleshooting, and Apple Business Manager.
  • Strong command of Windows OS environments and standard PC hardware.
  • Experience administering, configuring, and troubleshooting Microsoft Intune for enterprise device management
  • Hands-on experience with Mosyle (or similar Apple MDM) and Sophos Central.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
