Maintenance Planner


Location:

East Boulder - McLeod, MT

Schedule:

5x2, 4x3 - 9-hour days

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

The Mobile Maintenance Planner defines priorities for criticality of equipment and ensures that reliability centered maintenance tactics are reflected in the maintenance plans. The planner incorporates asset strategies and enhance planning processes to improve workplace safety, service quality and data accuracy. The planning activities contribute to establishing a work environment committed to excellence, by ensuring that labor needs are effectively balanced. This role requires substantial coordination with others. The Mobile Maintenance Planner works closely with the maintenance general foreman and supervisors regarding work priorities and to ensure that work packages accurately reflect the work to be executed in the field.

  • Prioritize, plan preventative maintenance and repairs for all Mobile Equipment
  • Coach and mentor employees in accordance with S-SMC leadership qualities.
  • Work with the crews in continuing the development of a focused and engaged change culture throughout the organization.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisors to ensure effective use of manpower and materials to expedite maintenance repairs.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse and Purchasing Departments to ensure parts availability.
  • Learn, upgrade and improve software used for maintenance tracking, forecasting and communications of maintenance schedules. Assure integrity of data.
  • Research histories and prepare Asset Management plans for budget preparation.
  • Prepare work packages to include conditions and constraints, parts list and develop best practices step by step job procedures.
  • Be pro-active in all aspects of the operations; safety, environment, effective and efficient utilization of resources, productivity, Business Improvement initiatives as an owner, and teamwork across the site.
  • Actively support Safety and Health Management and Environmental systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain a productive labor relations environment, minimizing unnecessary conflict.
  • Demonstrate positive two-way verbal and written communication.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Lead in commitment, accountability, respect, enabling, and safety including character, teamwork, communication, business sense and vision.
  • Solid understanding and applying of MSHA regulations and compliance.
  • Ability to drive planning and scheduling of work and then execute on them.
  • Define, establish, and set Key Performance Indices (KPI's) and hold groups accountable to KPI's.
  • Manage the appropriate levels of labor, equipment, tools, supplies, and materials for each group.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Mine, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or its equivalent from a recognized institution or meet these standards through proven experience and skillsets.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency in mine systems, cost management, and productivity enhancement.
  • Experience with underground mining methods, narrow vein preferred.
  • Proficiency in the preparation of operating and capital budgets.
  • Experienced in PC based software programs, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and ERP software (Oracle/JDE or equivalent).
