Job description

Job Description A leading manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Maintenance Planning Supervisor to lead maintenance planning, scheduling, inventory control, and parts management operations within a high-volume production facility. This role is instrumental in improving equipment reliability, optimizing maintenance execution, and supporting operational efficiency through strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will oversee maintenance planning processes, preventive and corrective maintenance scheduling, parts inventory management, contractor coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Lead all maintenance planning and scheduling activities for plant assets. Develop comprehensive work packages including labor requirements, materials, tools, permits, and execution plans. Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to minimize production downtime. Review, prioritize, and manage the complete lifecycle of maintenance work orders. Monitor work order status and identify overdue activities that could impact equipment reliability. Generate maintenance forecasts and planning reports using available operational data. Maintain and improve computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) data accuracy and integrity. Support implementation of maintenance best practices and continuous process improvements. Asset Reliability & Continuous Improvement Partner with maintenance, engineering, operations, and reliability teams to optimize asset performance. Support root cause analysis activities for equipment failures and corrective maintenance. Track and report key performance indicators related to maintenance planning and scheduling effectiveness. Recommend process enhancements that improve maintenance efficiency and equipment availability. Conduct operational analyses and prepare reports supporting maintenance strategy and business objectives. Parts & Inventory Management Oversee all parts room operations and inventory control activities. Coordinate material requirements for planned maintenance and inspections. Work closely with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of maintenance materials. Manage special parts orders and inventory replenishment processes. Monitor inventory valuation, cycle counts, obsolete inventory, and inventory variances. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for: Parts setup Inventory replenishment Parts issuance and returns Repair and restocking Parts kitting Inventory control processes Contractor & Vendor Management Coordinate maintenance contractor scheduling and support outage planning activities. Conduct contractor performance reviews and monitor service quality. Ensure contractors comply with facility safety requirements, quality standards, and operational procedures. Collaborate with procurement and capital project teams to align contractor resources with business needs. Support contract administration and documentation related to maintenance services. Leadership & Administration Collaborate with cross-functional departments including operations, engineering, purchasing, finance, and management. Assist with maintenance budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning. Monitor departmental performance metrics and provide regular KPI reporting to leadership. Support compliance with internal controls and inventory governance processes. Identify opportunities for training, standardization, and operational excellence across maintenance functions. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 3–5 years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, reliability, or industrial maintenance leadership. Experience working within a manufacturing, food production, consumer goods, or industrial environment. Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating across departments. Preferred Post-secondary technical education or specialized training in industrial maintenance or reliability. Experience leading parts inventory or storeroom operations. Knowledge of maintenance planning methodologies, asset management principles, and continuous improvement practices. Experience with contractor management and maintenance KPI reporting.
