POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be performing PM and repairs on mobile/heavy equipment. The incumbent will be responsible for all types of equipment including but not limited to Haul Trucks, Wheel Loaders, Skid Steers, Dozers, Motor Graders, Draglines and pickups.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Maintenance

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to mobile/heavy equipment including gasoline and diesel engines.
  • Possess basic trouble shooting skills related to hydraulics, diesel and gasoline engine systems.
  • Repair and replace bearings, brakes, bushings, springs, axles, alternators, wiring harnesses, replacing gaskets, fittings and seals, hydraulics, etc.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments to troubleshoot, diagnose and perform mechanical repairs on mobile equipment.
  • Execute work orders and compile maintenance records as required in accordance with all Company procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure completion of the weekly HME schedule and assist with ordering and receiving all necessary parts.
  • Identify any needed parts and order to respective work order
  • Possess the ability to perform cutting with oxy/acetylene torch.
  • Complete industrial engines and other major component overhauls.
  • Ability to effectively use software to diagnose and repair HME.
  • Complete PM work orders on all mobile equipment within scope of the work order.
  • Document history on work orders in SAP with quality comments as well.
  • Input quality notifications into SAP.
  • Populate preventative work orders based on equipment hours.
  • All other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Ensure used oil is collected, stored and disposed of accordingly.
  • Assist with inventory of all oils and fluids for HME equipment. Keeping storage area in safe working conditions.

Safety

  • Physically inspect all mobile equipment and related equipment at least once per shift to detect mechanical problems and to ensure employee safety. Record results of inspection.
  • Perform all assigned work adhering to company and governmental safety rules and regulations.
  • Attend scheduled safety meetings.
  • Enforce all applicable safety policies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Promote safety among co-workers.
  • Participate in Behavior Based Safety program.

Safe Quality Food (SQF)

  • Ensure a SQF workplace and follow regulatory compliance with Federal FDA - Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 507).
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs.
  • Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture.
  • Following completion of SQF training, demonstrate understanding of expected safety, SQF performance and Food Safety Culture.
  • Complete periodic SQF training(s).
  • Each site location will ensure training is conducted for new employees and continued for existing employees.
  • Employees will actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site.

Perform other duties as assigned.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Diesel mechanic background with in-depth troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in welding, diesel engine repair, electrical work, and hydraulics.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors and peers with the ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure.
  • Must understand the mechanics of mobile equipment.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks with a strong sense of urgency to meet the customer's needs.
  • Strong compliance and safety orientation.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Must possess basic reading and math skills.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, blueprints, mechanical drawings, safety rules, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Must have good written and verbal communicate skills.
  • Strong record of attendance reliability.
  • Must be capable of working any shift, overtime, be on-call, or work seven days a week, if needed.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with co-workers to accomplish defined goals in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting.
  • Ability to consistently lift over 75 pounds as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

PREFFERED EDUCATION:

  • Technical training or AA degree in technical related field is desired.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous maintenance experience is preferred. Must have three (3) to five (5) years of work experience in fast paced manufacturing environment including mechanical experience with diesel engines, and heavy equipment.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) plus years of experience
