Job description

General Information This is lead work in operating a wastewater or water treatment plant and allied appurtenances while on an assigned shift. Jurisdictions Yearly Salary Mobile Area Water and Sewer System $49,295 - $78,805 Prichard Water Works and Sewer Board $43,569 - $69,652 Saraland Water and Sewer Board $51,790 - $82,795 Utilities Board City of Bayou La Batre $44,658 - $71,394 Note: The eligible list created from this job posting will be utilized to fill Treatment Plant Operator II positions specifically in the area of WASTEWATER treatment. Requirements Minimum Qualification Requirements Graduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, and a minimum of one year experience at the level of a Treatment Plant Operator I or Pretreatment Specialist I; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.

Special Requirement Must be certified in water or wastewater treatment by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM). Out-of-state certifications may be accepted, but ADEM certification must be completed within 6 months of employment. Mobile and Saraland - possession of a Grade III Certificate in Water or Wastewater Treatment, preferably both, except for assignment to the Stickney Filtration Plant (Moffat Road) and the Myers Filtration Plant (Hubert Pierce Road which requires a Grade IV Water Certificate.

Prichard-possession of a Grade II Certificate in Water Treatment OR possession of a Grade III or IV Wastewater Certificate. Bayou La Batre - possession of a Grade II Certificate in Water Treatment or Grade III Certificate in Wastewater Treatment. Other smaller jurisdictions require possession of a Grade II Certification in Water or Wastewater Treatment or both.

Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence.
