Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital, as well as a clinic system with primary care clinics located in Minneapolis and across Hennepin County. Purpose of this position: The Manager of Application Solutions is a key member of the Information Services and Technology leadership team. Reporting to the Director of Application Solutions, this position is operationally responsible for providing application solutions to our care teams, patients and business partners while ensuring the availability, integrity, scalability and security of the solutions. The Manager of Application Solutions is a forward-looking technology leader who thinks strategically about their area of responsibility recommending future direction and leading the development of 1-3 year road maps, in partnership with operations, incorporating the current healthcare and technology environment, regulations, trends, and impacts to Hennepin Healthcare. This role works closely with the IS&T leadership team in designing and executing on Hennepin Healthcare's technology roadmap.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Delivers information services exceptionally well, delivering on business value by improving patient outcomes, patient experiences and care team efficiencies in a transparent and cost efficient way, while creating a positive and engaging work environment
  • Attracts, develops, and leads high performing information services and technology professionals to ensure reliable delivery of application services that the position is accountable for
  • Drives a culture of continuous improvement to improve quality, efficiency and standards
  • Recommends a strategic direction and roadmap to ensure our ability to flawlessly deliver services enabling exceptional patient care without exception
  • Liaises with Operations with the ability to engage, partner on prioritization, support, teach, and problem solve
  • Manages Departmental Performance (budget, forecasting, efficiencies, productivity, and outcomes)
  • Analyzes the structure and flow of the business' work to identify possible application solutions. They need to be aware of the latest software developments and think of ways that software can be applied to make the business more efficient and successful
  • Leads a team of IT specialists responsible for implementing and upgrading system hardware and application software. They ensure that the servers are all ready before implementing new systems, and then carefully monitors the rolling-out process to catch any snags
  • Provides technical support and problem resolution related to shared business and clinical application software systems. Whenever there is a problem with the software, the Application Manager or a member of their team will review the issue and come up with a solution
  • Supports and promotes information security plans, initiatives and activities
  • Oversees the creation and updating of standard protocols and procedures. Once these standards are developed, they will ensure communication, training to staff, and monitor compliance
  • Negotiates IS&T related contracts to ensure cost-effective agreements are achieved, HHS interests are protected and business value is added
  • Monitors trends, developments, and best practices within their applications of oversight in anticipation of changing requirements, expectations and opportunities; assesses technical, financial, and organizational implementation for Hennepin Healthcare

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS) or an approved field of study
  • Five years of progressive IT and/or business leadership experience.
