Job Summary
Job Title: Multi-Craft Millwright
Department: Operations
Reports To: Multi-Craft Millwright Foreman
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Summary: At Cherokee Millwright, we are a multi-craft company that focuses on the needs of our customers by providing multi-trades personnel to meet the customer's unique job requests. Therefore, all field employees will be cross-trained in various trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, etc. The focus of this position will be install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to layout plans, rigging plans, blueprints, or other drawings by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. However, it will not be entirely set to this specific skillset.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
  2. Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  3. Dismantles machines.
  4. Moves machinery and equipment, using hoist, dollies, rollers, airbags, and fork trucks.
  5. Assembles and installs equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
  6. Constructs foundation for machines; insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
  7. Aligns machines and equipment, using hoist, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
  8. Assembles machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures.
  9. Uses various hand tools, power tools, torches, and welders.
  10. Operates Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, and Boom Lifts.
  11. Additional skills in other crafts will be necessary to meet our customers need and will be expected in this role.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
