Location: Brookings, OR

Millwright Helper

Department: Maintenance โ€“ South Coast Lumber
Compensation: $24.42-28.57 DOE per hour (After a probationary period, potential for shift differential)
Schedule: Swing or Graveyard Shift (Day shift for training) | 40โ€“60 hours per week (Weekends and some holidays)

About the Role

Join our team at South Coast Lumber as a Millwright Helper and gain hands-on experience working alongside skilled millwrights. In this role, youโ€™ll learn to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial equipment while supporting the safe and efficient operation of our facility. Ideal for mechanically minded individuals ready to grow their career in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role is designed as a developmental position with the potential to transition into a Millwright Apprenticeship Program based on performance, skill progression, and business needs. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist millwrights with mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machinery.

  • Help with the disassembly and reassembly of equipment during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

  • Support preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and ensure safe operation.

  • Accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to complete assigned tasks.

  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

  • Must own or be willing and able to purchase required tools.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
